Auditions are now open for the 2024-2025 KW YCB season! Auditions generally take place by video submission; if you would prefer to audition in person, please contact trevor.wagler@gmail.com to schedule a live audition.

For a video audition, simply record yourself performing the selections on the list below, then send in the video file (as well as pdf copies of your chosen repertoire) by email. Feel free to upload a private video to YouTube and send the link if that’s easier for you. Please send your audition materials to trevor.wagler@gmail.com.

Deadline: Audition materials must be received by Friday June 14, 2024. Late auditions may be accepted, depending on section availability.

If you have any questions, please contact me (trevor.wagler@gmail.com).

Audition Requirements

On your recorded video, please state your name, age, school, grade and instrument. If you play other instruments as well (for example, a flutist who also plays piccolo), please mention that too. Then, please perform the following:

  • Two (2) contrasting selections*
  • A scale of your choice, from your lowest to highest possible note, any articulation

*Your chosen selections may be drawn from any repertoire source you like – solo repertoire, studies/etudes, or ensemble repertoire – which clearly showcase your performing ability on your instrument. Since these auditions are also used for placement within the ensemble, make sure to challenge yourself! Don’t forget to attach a pdf copy of the music you’re performing when you send your video.

PERCUSSION

Percussionists should be prepared to play excerpts on Snare Drum / Drum Kit  or Timpani, and Mallets (Xylophone, Glockenspiel, etc.).

CONCERTMASTER

If you play clarinet, and wish to be considered as concertmaster, please make sure to mention this on your audition video.

CONCERTO SOLOISTS

If you wish to be considered to perform a solo concerto with the ensemble next season, please send me a copy of your chosen solo along with your audition materials. You do not need to have this selection prepared yet at the time of your audition.
